Cancer Wellbeing at the Pink Place

A grant of £1,880 to the Pink Place helped the group to provide wellbeing services and support to adults affected by cancer in the Basingstoke area. When Covid-19 hit, the group quickly adapted their services to facilitate virtual support sessions.

The Pink Place have been supporting Louise through her illness since 2016.

“It must have been the lure of coffee and cake that got me to the Pink Place for the first time. I think I had secretly thought that support groups were for other people. How wrong was I? The Pink Place is a ‘family’ giving love, support and friendship at a tricky time. The free pamper sessions provided by the volunteer therapists just lift your spirits and I recall having my thinning hair washed, trimmed and dried and walking out of the place feeling like a million dollars. We all love our friends and relatives but time with people who have been on similar journeys and understand the challenges cancer patients face is so important.”

"The Pink Place Zoom sessions during the weeks of Lockdown helped me enormously. It gave me a focus, a purpose and lifted my spirits. It was lovely to ‘see’ people and chat."
