Brendoncare Clubs Gosport – a lifeline to the community

Brendoncare Clubs, run by Winchester based charity, The Brendoncare Foundation, was awarded a grant of £5,000 as part of  Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation’s Covid Recovery Grant. The grant has been used to help Brendoncare Gosport Community Hub reopen face-to-face clubs.

Brendoncare Gosport’s Community Hub offers a variety of weekday and weekend clubs for older people living in the local area ranging from Pilates, Tai Chi, dance, keep fit, ping pong, gardening, film, singing to lunch clubs. Many members view Brendoncare as a lifeline and the face-to-face clubs offer a safe, welcoming, inclusive environment for older people in the community to develop strong support networks and friendships.

Sally Harrild, Head of Brendoncare Clubs Services, said: “It has been heart-warming to see our members coming back to clubs after some time away. Friendships are being rekindled and the measures we have put in place to keep people safe mean that people can relax and enjoy the fun.”

“Thanks to this generous grant from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation we will be able to continue to reopen our face-to-face clubs in Gosport safely and give our members every opportunity to return to or join a Brendoncare Club.”
