Our grant-making programmes are generously funded by local companies, individuals, families, charitable trusts, government agencies and through local partnerships.
We highlight the important issues in local communities to our donors and award grants to charities, community groups and voluntary organisations on their behalf. The majority of our donors prefer to support smaller charities and community groups based in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
We have four Top Tier Local Authorities (TTLA’s) in our region, for Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton. The geographical location for distribution of grants to a TTLA is dependant on the criteria for each individual fund and trust.
High Level of Applications
Unfortunately, due to the very high level of grant applications that we receive for each grant programme, there is rarely sufficient funding to support all of the projects, even where they meet the criteria.
What Makes a Good Application?
- Disadvantaged or vulnerable beneficiaries
- Will make a big impact in the local community
- More activities done “with” than “to” those involved
- A clear and detailed budget breakdown
- A low level of reserves (less than 12 months)
- Value for money (supporting a high number of beneficiaries)
